Watercolor Commission

Description

This custom watercolor painting will be a keepsake for years to come! It will be painted on traditional watercolor paper using a mix of watercolor paint, gouache watercolor paint, and watercolor pencils.

First, decide what you’d like painted! BEFORE you’ve purchased this item, I suggest you email me (Julie at RidgeLightRanch.com) so we can discuss what you’re looking for. Here are some of the questions I’ll be asking you:

• What do you want to be painted?
• What size would you like the painting to be?
• Where will the painting be displayed?
• What color frame and mat will you use?
• Are there any special details you’d like included in the artwork?
• Where would you like the artwork to be mailed to?

Sizing

Now that you know what subject you’d like, decide on a size. The size ordered corresponds to the size of the paper. The image will be painted slightly smaller to allow for a matting margin. If you’re looking for a different size, let me know! If you plan to mat and frame your art (see below), that may influence your decision on size of art.

• Notecard: 4″ x 6″ glued to a 5×7 card base
• 4″ x 6″ (easily placed in a 4×6 frame OR with a mat in a 5×7 frame)
• 5″ x 7″ (easily placed in a 5×7 frame OR with a mat in an 8×10 frame)
• 8″ x 10″ (easily placed in an 8×10 frame OR with a mat in an 11×14 frame)
• 9″ x 12″ (easily placed in an 9×12 frame OR with a mat in an 11×14 frame)
• 11″ x 14″ (looks nice with a 11×14 mat OR with a mat in a 12×16 frame)

Matting and Framing

I can mat and frame the artwork or you can do it yourself. Follow these links to order the mat and frame separately:

I offer these services to my customers because I know not everyone enjoys a trip to Hobby Lobby or Michaels. However, I want you to know that you can easily do this yourself and save quite a bit of money if you watch for sales! My prices assume I will not be able to take advantage of sales when I purchase a mat and/or frame for you.

*If you plan to frame your art yourself, you might prefer to pick out the frame first, since some frames come with a mat. Some people even like to purchase the frame and mat off-the-shelf first, and then order the art to match. This is typically less expensive than ordering a custom-size frame and mat.

Shipping

I often upcycle and reuse clean shipping materials. I will ship you the original painting/card in a flat envelope, protected in a plastic sleeve and stiff cardboard. If we already see each other regularly, I’m happy to bring this to you the next time we meet. If you’d like to take advantage of this, choose “Local Pickup” as your shipping.

Purchasing a work of art does not usually include reproduction rights, or a commercial license to print copies of the artwork. As the artist, Julie Abels maintains the right to make additional copies of the artwork. If you would like reproduction rights, please contact Julie about creating a contract to include reproduction rights.
