The Story Behind the Art

Sea turtles are so pleasant to paint! While I’ve never had the opportunity to see one in the wild, all the photos and videos I’ve seen of them make them seem like very relaxed creatures. Have you ever noticed how, whether it’s Crush in Finding Nemo or Toby Turtle in Disney’s 1973 Robin Hood movie, turtles are often very calm characters? All of that adds up to the fact that painting turtles generally leave me feeling calm and content. I originally painted this as a commissioned work of art (see photos), but then digitally removed the background and converted it to this lovely sticker.
