Join us for another fun 14-week art course where we learn to draw what we see!
We covered most of the basics of drawing in the 1st semester. Here in the 2nd semester, we’ll start with a unit on drawing people, then we’ll draw some landscapes, and of course, we’ll keep reviewing the basics. The images shown here are not necessarily indicative of what we’ll be drawing since I like to adjust projects to fit the class.
This 1-semester course is designed for students who want to build and strengthen their drawing skills. Drawing is such an important component of education; It is the foundation of all other art forms and an important skill for many subjects beyond art! Students will learn how to see the world like an artist, practice techniques for drawing faster and more accurately, and complete a progression of activities to improve their skills. We’ll be working in graphite (pencil) on standard drawing/printer paper. This course emphasizes the basics and builds confidence, making it a great choice for beginners or those wanting to improve.
- Where: Northwest Bible Church (889 W Chapala Dr, Tucson, AZ 85704)
- Date: Mondays, starting January 12, 2026
- Time: 9:05 am-10:00 am
This class is also offered at 8am with identical content!
Age Range:
- This art course is designed for students ages 8-18..
- However, I have found that a passion for art is more important than a certain age. This curriculum works for a wide variety of ages. Students need to be self-motivated, have the desire to learn to draw, be willing to practice drawing at home, and should have basic fine motor skills (eg. can write their alphabet well).
- If you have a younger child, let’s talk about it so you can decide if this would be a helpful course for him/her.
Supplies Needed
Each student needs a standard (probably 1-inch thick) 3-ring binder (to keep all their handouts and drawings organized).
If students have a favorite pencil or sketchbook they are welcome to bring it as well, but I will have pencils and paper available.
Spring Schedule (14 weeks):
- Jan 12, 26
- Feb. 2, 9, 16, 23
- Mar. 2, 9, 23, 30
- Apr. 6, 13, 20, 27
No meeting:
- Jan. 19th: MLK Day
- Mar. 16th: Spring Break
Since the curriculum builds from week to week, we encourage you not to miss any meetings if possible.
Be sure to check out our cancelation policy too!
Parent Policy
We want to always have two adults present any time an adult is in the room with children who are not their own. So, parents will need to take turns being the 2nd adult in the room. You are always welcome to sit in the room with your child.
ESA Families
Here’s my MBA diploma if you’d like to use it for reimbursement.
Course size limit:
We plan to limit this course to 10 students to allow for plenty of individual attention. Once the max is reached, contact me to be put on the wait list.
